No appointment is required for a marriage license. Couples can go directly to the Civil Affairs Bureau marriage registration office on working days to line up for marriage registration. Marriage registration office provides online booking service, after booking can avoid the queuing process. Mainland residents, active military personnel, Hong Kong residents, Macao residents, Taiwan residents, overseas Chinese, foreigners need to carry relevant documents, and through the application, review, registration of three procedures to obtain a marriage certificate.
1. Documents to be submitted for marriage certificate
Mainland residents, active military personnel, Hong Kong residents, Macao residents, Taiwan residents, people going abroad, overseas Chinese, foreigners are required to carry relevant documents.
1. Mainland residents
Submit valid household registration books and resident identity cards of both parties.
2. Active military personnel
(1) valid military certificate and resident ID card;
(2) Military marriage registration certificate issued by political departments at or above the regiment level.
3. Hong Kong residents
(1) Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao residents or Home Return Permit for Hong Kong and Macao compatriots;
(2) Hong Kong Identity card;
(3) a statement notarized by a notary appointed by Hong Kong that I have no spouse and that I have no direct blood relation with the other party and no collateral blood relation within three generations.
4. Macao residents
(1) Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao residents or Home Return Permit for Hong Kong and Macao compatriots;
(2) Macao resident identity card;
(3) A statement notarized by a Macao notary office that he has no spouse and that he is not directly related to the other party or within three generations of collateral relatives.
5. Residents of Taiwan
(1) Mainland travel permits for Taiwan residents or other valid travel documents;
(2) Valid identity documents of the person residing in Taiwan;
(3) A statement notarized by a Taiwan notary agency that I have no spouse and that I have no direct blood relationship with the other party and no collateral blood relationship within three generations (Note: This statement needs to be verified by the Guangdong Notary Association on the original copy).
6. Overseas Chinese
(1) a valid passport or other valid international travel document;
(2) I have no spouse and no proof of direct or collateral blood relationship with the other party within three generations.
(3) The relevant certificate issued by a country that has no diplomatic relations with China shall be certified by the embassy (consulate) of a third country in that country and the Embassy (consulate) of China in a third country that has diplomatic relations with both that country and China, or by the embassy (consulate) of a third country in China.
(4) If the documents submitted are in a foreign language, the full text shall be translated into Chinese in the same format, and the translated text may be issued by the Embassy (Consulate) of the host country or a local qualified translation agency.
7. Foreigners
(1) a valid passport or other valid international travel document;
(2) proof that I have no spouse.
(3) The relevant certificate issued by a country that has no diplomatic relations with China shall be certified by the embassy (consulate) of a third country in that country and the Embassy (consulate) of China in a third country that has diplomatic relations with both that country and China, or by the embassy (consulate) of a third country in China;
(4) If the documents submitted are in a foreign language, the full text shall be translated into Chinese in the same format, and the translated text may be issued by the Embassy (Consulate) of the host country or a local qualified translation agency.
2. Procedures for marriage certificate
The marriage certificate needs to go through three procedures: application, review and registration.
1. Apply
Both men and women who want to get married must present their own household registration certificate, resident identity card, and a signed statement that they have no spouse and no direct blood relatives or collateral blood relatives within three generations with the other party. Jointly apply for marriage registration at the marriage registration office where one party's household registration is located. Both men and women must be present at the time of registration. If you have been divorced, you should also have a divorce certificate.
2. Review
The registration authority will examine the marriage application of both parties, and when necessary, it may require the parties to provide relevant supporting materials, or carry out necessary investigations, or designate projects to require the parties to undergo medical evaluation.
3. Registration
If, after examination, the marriage registration authority considers that the conditions for marriage are met, it shall grant registration and issue a marriage certificate. If the marriage registration authority refuses to register, it shall issue a written explanation explaining the reasons for not registering.
