The fluorescence of diamonds can only be seen with the naked eye under strong ultraviolet light. Diamond fluorescence is difficult to show under natural light and only emits colored light such as blue or yellow under strong ultraviolet radiation. If you want to see diamond fluorescence, you need to expose it to strong sunlight or use a UV lamp to illuminate it. Diamonds with high fluorescence levels will appear colored. In addition, you can also directly check the "Fluorescence" indicator on the diamond certificate. If it is marked as "None", it means there is no fluorescence.
Diamond fluorescence level
The fluorescence of diamonds is classified into five levels based on intensity: NONE, FAINT, MEDIUM, and STRONG.
No fluorescence: Diamonds do not react under ultraviolet radiation.
Faint weak fluorescence: Diamonds can see weak fluorescence under ultraviolet radiation, but cannot distinguish color.
Medium fluorescence, Strong strong fluorescence, Very Strong very strong fluorescence: Under ultraviolet irradiation, diamonds have obvious visible fluorescence and colors can be distinguished (such as blue fluorescence, yellow fluorescence, etc.).
Fluorescence index is another indicator besides the 4C parameters of diamonds, which can be used as an auxiliary indicator to evaluate diamond quality. Diamonds without fluorescence are the best.
