Diamonds often have surface or internal flaws, such as bubbles, cracks, feather patterns, etc.
According to the number of flaws in diamonds, they are divided into several levels: FL, IF, VVS1, VVS2, VS1, VS2, SI1, SI2, SI3, I1, I2, I3.
VS level and above (such as VVS, IF, FL) are referred to as naked eye flawless level, where defects cannot be seen with the naked eye. I suggest everyone purchase this. Further down the SI level, there are also some diamonds that are flawless to the naked eye, but it is important to carefully distinguish the type and location of defects and purchase with caution.
2. Caratage (Caratage)
Diamonds are generally measured in carats (CT), which represents weight. 1 carat=0.2 grams=100 cents. Diamonds under 1 carat can also be measured in "cents", for example, a 0.5 carat diamond is equivalent to a 50 cent diamond.
In addition, under the unchanged conditions of the other three Cs, the larger the weight of the diamond, the more valuable it is, and the rarer the quantity, with a geometric increase beyond 1 carat!
3. Color (Color)
We won't consider colored diamonds here, just white diamonds. D color is the best (colorless), arranged in alphabetical order according to the English alphabet, and Z color is the worst color. There are a total of 23 levels, with diamonds becoming more yellow as they move forward.
4. Cut (Cut)
Cutting is definitely the most important indicator of diamonds! Not one of them! Only when a diamond is cut to the appropriate proportions can light refract back from the top, forming sparkling colors. The cutting level of GIA is divided into: Perfect Excellent (EX); Excellent Very Good (VG); Good (GD); General Fair; Poor; There are a total of 5 levels.
So what does 3EX refer to? It means that Cut Grade, Polish, and Symmetry are all at the Perfect Excellent (EX) level.
