Is marriage by agreement legally recognized

HOME > Knowledge

Contracted marriage is not recognized by law. Contractual marriage is the process by which a man and a woman enter into a marital relationship through the signing of an agreement, without actually exercising their marital rights or fulfilling their marital obligations. Although men and women who get married through an agreement are legally registered as husband and wife, and their marriage form is legal, there is no substantive content of marriage. Therefore, the marriage agreement they sign is not recognized by law.

What is a contractual marriage

Agreed marriage refers to the signing of relevant agreements by both parties before marriage, and then registering for marriage to start a "nominal couple" life. Although the agreement marriage is legal in terms of obtaining the marriage certificate and form, its content is hollow and violates the principle that marital life must be genuine and voluntary. Therefore, this agreement has no legal effect and only covers up illegal purposes through legal means.

Conditions for Legal Marriage

3. Must comply with monogamy.

4. Not direct blood relatives or collateral blood relatives within three generations.

5. Do not suffer from diseases that are medically considered unsuitable for marriage.
