Jiangsu marriage leave is 3 days or 13 days

HOME > Knowledge

The wedding leave in Jiangsu is 13 days, not 3 days. According to Article 27 of the Population and Family Planning Regulations of Jiangsu Province, couples who have registered their marriage in accordance with the law shall extend their marriage leave by ten days on the basis of enjoying the national prescribed marriage leave. So the number of marriage leave days in Jiangsu is 3 days+10 days=13 days.

Starting from January 1, 2016, for couples who meet the requirements of this regulation to have children, the female partner shall enjoy an additional 30 days of maternity leave in addition to the national maternity leave, and the male partner shall enjoy 15 days of nursing leave.

The holidays stipulated in these two provisions are considered as attendance, and wages will be paid during the prescribed holidays without affecting welfare benefits. National statutory holidays are not included in the holidays stipulated in the first two provisions. Employers may provide other preferential treatment based on specific circumstances.

Precautions for Marriage Leave in Jiangsu Province

1. If there is a statutory holiday during the marriage leave in Jiangsu, the marriage leave time can be combined with the statutory holiday, and the holiday is equal to the statutory marriage leave time plus the statutory holiday.

2. Marriage leave must be taken in one go and cannot be used intermittently. For example, newcomers in Jiangsu must take 13 days off at once, and cannot take one day off in the first half of the year and one day off in the second half of the year.

3. If both newcomers are not working in the same place, they can be given travel leave based on the distance traveled. But if using family leave, no additional leave will be given.

4. Remarried couples can still enjoy statutory marriage leave, no different from first-time marriages. And the salary will be paid as usual during the vacation period.
