Marriage does not require a physical examination. In 2003, the country promulgated the new Marriage Registration Regulations, which abolished the mandatory premarital physical examination provisions in the Marriage Registration Management Regulations and the Maternal and Child Health Care Law. The law clearly stipulates that the certificate of premarital examination is no longer a necessary material for marriage, and thereafter, premarital examination is no longer mandatory and has become a voluntary choice for physical examination.
