According to Article 62 of the "Norms for Marriage Registration Work", if a party loses or damages their marriage registration certificate, they may apply to the original marriage registration authority or the marriage registration authority where one party's permanent residence is located for a replacement.
Process of reissuing marriage certificate
1. If the marriage certificate is lost or severely damaged, the parties may apply for a replacement at the original marriage registration office.
2. If the original marriage registration office has opened an online service system, the reissuer can book a suitable reissuance time online in advance to avoid the peak period of certificate issuance. If the online service system is not activated, you can directly handle it on-site.
If the appointment is successful, please bring both parties' household registration books, ID cards, and three recent 2-inch half body bareheaded photos to the original marriage registration office according to the appointment time to apply for a new marriage certificate. For those who have not made an appointment, simply bring the materials to the site to apply for a replacement.
3. For those who have been married for a long time (more than ten years), to apply for a new marriage certificate, the applicant needs to go to the archives in the registered residence registration place first, call out the proof materials of their marriage relationship and print them out, and submit them to the original marriage registration office for re application together with their household registration books, their ID cards, and three two inch recent bareheaded group photos.
