According to Article 10 of Chapter 3 of China's Marriage Registration Regulations, if mainland residents voluntarily divorce, both the man and the woman should jointly go to the marriage registration authority in the place where one party's permanent household registration is located to handle the divorce registration. Therefore, it is not necessary to go to the original marriage registration office for divorce. You can go to the registered residence of one of the men and women to go through the divorce procedures.
Conditions for Divorce Registration Application
1. The marriage registration office has jurisdiction.
2. The couple requesting divorce shall jointly submit an application to the marriage registration office.
3. Both parties have full capacity for civil conduct.
4. The parties hold a divorce agreement, which states their voluntary intention to divorce and their consensus on matters such as child custody, property, and debt management.
5. The parties involved hold a marriage certificate issued by the mainland marriage registration authority or the Chinese embassy/consulate abroad.
6. Each party shall submit two 2-inch recent half length bareheaded photos of a single person.
7. If the parties hold valid resident identity cards and household registration books, and are unable to submit their identity cards for any reason, a valid temporary identity card can be issued.
