How to get a marriage certificate for cross-province marriage

HOME > Knowledge

Both men and women who cross provinces for marriage need to bring their respective ID cards, household registration books, proof of current marital status, three recent 2-inch half length bareheaded photos, and a non consanguineous marriage declaration to the marriage registration authority in the place where one party's permanent household registration is located for marriage registration.

1、 Materials required for marriage registration

1. Resident ID cards of both parties.

2. Household register of both parties (or collective registered residence certificate).

3. Proof of current marital status.

4. I hereby declare that I have no spouse and no direct blood relationship or collateral blood relationship within three generations with the other party.

5. Three recent two inch bareheaded couple photos (can also be taken on-site at the Civil Affairs Bureau).

2、 Marriage registration process

1. Choose the place of marriage registration

Only one of the parties can choose the civil affairs bureau where the registered residence is located to register the marriage.

2. Register Appointment

If the civil affairs bureau for marriage registration has opened the online reservation function, you can enter the reservation registration page in advance before obtaining the certificate, select the civil affairs bureau where one party's registered residence is located, and make an appointment for the appropriate registration time. If the local civil affairs bureau has not opened appointment services, you can directly handle it on-site.

3. Go to register

If the appointment is successful, bring the materials to the registration office according to the appointment time. For those who cannot make an appointment, please bring the relevant materials directly to the registration office. After arriving at the Civil Affairs Bureau, each person needs to fill out a "Declaration of Application for Marriage Registration", confirm that the information is correct, and sign it under the witness of the marriage registration officer.

4. Staff review

The staff reviews whether the documents carried by the newlyweds are complete, whether there are any errors in the information filled out in the form, and asks whether there are any situations where the newlyweds are not suitable for marriage in terms of marriage intention, mental state, and blood relationship status.

5. Provide registration results

After passing the review, the registration procedures will be quickly completed and the marriage certificate will be issued. If it is found after examination that there are circumstances that are not suitable for marriage, the staff will explain to the newlyweds and they will choose a new date to handle it again.
