Pre marital examination is a physical examination conducted by both men and women preparing for marriage. There is no clear legal requirement in our country that marriage registration can only be carried out after marriage examination, but it is best to undergo a marriage examination before marriage. Since October 2013, the Marriage Law has not made mandatory pre marital checkups, therefore, pre marital checkups follow the principle of voluntariness. But in order for both men and women to get married smoothly, it is best to have a premarital checkup.
The benefits of premarital check ups
Pre marital examination includes inquiring about past medical history, blood and urine routine tests, infectious disease history or psychiatric history, and genetic diseases.
Through these examination items, it is possible to determine the physical condition of both men and women and whether they are suitable for marriage and childbirth. Doctors can also make corresponding diagnoses based on the examination results and help both men and women develop marriage and childbirth plans according to the transmission rules, in order to reduce or avoid inappropriate marriages and the birth of children with genetic diseases, and ensure eugenics.
