The necessary documents for obtaining a marriage certificate include both parties' ID cards and household registration books. The optional documents include a color photo of the newlyweds without a crown, which can be taken by oneself or by the Civil Affairs Bureau. In addition, military personnel need to carry military documents when registering for marriage, and non citizens of the Chinese Mainland need to carry valid identity certificates and marriage status certificates when registering for marriage in the mainland.
1. Both parties' ID cards (if lost or expired, they must be reissued first);
2. Both parties' household registration books (copies of the first page, first page, and personal page of the household registration book are required, and the original copies can be taken to the Civil Affairs Bureau for copying);
3. Three 2-inch front half body photos without a crown, color red background photos;
4. Remarried individuals also need to bring a divorce certificate or a valid court judgment;
5. Active military personnel also need to bring additional military identification documents and proof of marital status;
6. Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan residents shall additionally bring Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan passes+marriage status certificates, and foreign citizens shall bring their passports+foreigners' residence permits+marriage status certificates.
