Proposal is followed by engagement or marriage

HOME > Knowledge

After proposing, it's engagement. Proposal refers to obtaining the consent of the lover, which is a dual interpretation of romance and love, but does not have authority. And engagement is a ceremony to announce the beginning of a relationship to family and friends around you, and to confirm the marriage relationship. The traditional order of marriage is to first seek engagement after marriage and then get married, gradually and with a sense of ceremony.

The general order of marriage

1. Propose marriage

The proposal ceremony is completed separately between lovers. When the relationship between the two reaches a certain stage, the boy wants to express his inner love and give her lifelong happiness. At this time, he will use the proposal to convey his feelings to the other party. Usually, boys invite their loved ones and friends to participate, but there are also some in public places where strangers may be present.

2. Engagement

The engagement must be witnessed by both parents. The newlyweds need to gather important relatives and friends of both parties together for a formal engagement ceremony.

3. Getting married

Marriage is the formal establishment of a marital relationship between two people. Although engaged, those who have not registered their marriage with the Civil Affairs Bureau cannot be considered legally recognized as spouses. At this point, both the man and the woman need to bring the original household registration book, original resident ID card, and no marriage certificate to the Civil Affairs Bureau to obtain the marriage certificate. Only after obtaining the certificate can it be considered as marriage.
