A diamond 3ex cut refers to a cut ratio, polishing, and symmetry level that all reach the "Excellent" level. Therefore, 3EX is often referred to as the "perfect cut" and is the highest quality diamond cut. 3EX cut grade diamonds have excellent shine and fire color, making them look extremely charming.
Characteristics of diamond 3ex cutting
1. Cutting ratio EX
Cutting is the most important factor in diamond quality. The cut determines the proportion of the diamond (depth and facet angle), which in turn affects the reflection of light inside the diamond.
Cutting grade EX indicates that the cutting parameters of the diamond are within a certain range, which can make the diamond exhibit strong brightness, flicker, and fire color, while also having evenly distributed light and dark areas (flashes); Diamonds with poor cutting often have large light or dark spots, making them appear dull or unattractive.
2. Polishing EX
Polishing refers to the quality of surface decoration or smoothness of diamond surface polishing.
Under a 10x magnifying glass, the polished EX diamond shows no visible polishing defects. Diamonds with poor polishing may have surface defects that are not visible to the naked eye, which can weaken the brilliance and shimmer of the diamond. If diamonds with good polishing have appropriate proportions and symmetry, they can exhibit dazzling brightness, fire color, and brilliance under light irradiation.
3. Symmetry EX
Symmetry refers to the precision of diamond shape, the quality of facet arrangement, and the consistency of similar facets in size, shape, and proportion. In symmetrical EX diamonds, all facets should intersect at the waist circumference (the widest part of the diamond).
The tip of the kite shaped facet on the crown (top of the diamond) should align with the tip of the wedge-shaped facet on the bottom (bottom of the diamond). The regular octagonal tabletop facets at the top should be centered, while the bottom facets at the bottom should perfectly intersect at the diamond tip. EX symmetry can enhance the reflected light of diamonds, making them appear more harmonious.
