How to cut a heart-shaped diamond

Heart shaped diamonds are very popular in engagement and proposal rings, representing sweet love and symbolizing "giving my heart to you". Here is a summary of how to choose a heart shaped diamond.

1. Cutting ratio

The aspect ratio of heart-shaped diamonds is mostly around 0.9-1.1; A "chubby" heart-shaped diamond smaller than 0.9 looks chubby. And "thin" heart-shaped diamonds with a length to width ratio of 1.1 or higher appear more stretched and elongated in shape. It mainly depends on personal preferences, and the ideal ratio for a heart shape is recommended to be 1:1 for a fuller and more rounded appearance. One carat length and width dimensions: 6.6mm.

2. Contour ratio

The opening of a heart-shaped diamond should present a V-shape, with one petal on each side. For a well cut heart-shaped diamond, the size and shape of the two petals should be consistent, and the curve should extend smoothly to the tip.

If the wing or flap surface is uneven, flat or bulging, or the tip is not clear enough, it will damage the overall contour.
