Many people's marriage certificates may be lost or damaged for various reasons and need to be replaced. A marriage certificate is required for clothing, food, housing, and transportation. In the event of loss or damage to the marriage certificate, the parties may apply for a replacement at the marriage registration authority with relevant documents and materials. The marriage registration authority shall issue a marriage certificate to the parties involved with complete procedures.
Materials required for changing marriage certificate
1. Original valid resident identity cards and household registration books of both parties;
2. Copy of the original marriage certificate or marriage registration file stamped with the special seal for file retrieval;
3. Both parties shall submit three 2-inch recent half body, bareheaded photos of both parties;
4. If the name, date of birth and ID card number on the ID card held by the party concerned at the time of application for replacement are inconsistent with the marriage registration file, the party concerned shall also submit the certification materials of relevant information change issued by the public security department;
5. If the marriage registration files of the parties are lost or difficult to verify, the parties shall submit proof of the loss or difficult to verify of the files issued by the archives storage department and sufficient evidence to prove the marriage relationship.
