The legal age for obtaining a marriage certificate is over 22 years old for males and over 20 years old for females. According to Article 1047 of the Civil Code of the People's Republic of China, "The age of marriage shall not be earlier than 22 years for males and 20 years for females
1、 Scope of application of legal marriage age
The age of marriage stipulated in our country's laws only has universal applicability and is not binding in some special circumstances. For example, in autonomous regions such as Ningxia, Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, Xizang and some autonomous prefectures and autonomous counties where ethnic minorities gather, they can make some adjustments and adaptations to the relevant provisions on marriage age. It should be noted that these adjusted and flexible rules only apply to ethnic minorities and do not apply to the Han people living here.
2、 The relevant regulations for obtaining a marriage certificate in 2022
Civil Code of the People's Republic of China
Article 1046: Marriage shall be fully voluntary for both the man and the woman. It is prohibited for either party to coerce the other or for any organization or individual to interfere.
Article 1047: The age of marriage shall not be earlier than 22 for males and 20 for females.
Article 1048: Marriage is prohibited for direct blood relatives or collateral blood relatives within three generations.
Article 1051: If any of the following circumstances occur, the marriage shall be invalid:
（1） Bigamy;
（2） Family relationships that prohibit marriage;
（3） Not yet of legal marriage age.
1. Men must be at least 22 years old, and women must be at least 20 years old
2. Both men and women have no spouse
3. Both parties voluntarily agree
4. Both parties are not direct blood relatives or collateral blood relatives within three generations
